We Are Living On A Speck

You are living on a speckRead this. Much like everything, it has a purpose. I have a good point to get across.

The Universe is everything. It goes on forever and ever, and never stops. It can’t be comprehended, how vast the Universe is. It can’t even be explained. The fabric of time and space just goes on forever and ever, and that’s it.

In the Universe is stuff called matter. Matter was created when the Universe was first created. Matter exists as tiny, tiny particles. Soon after the Universe was created, these particles clumped together to form atoms. The very first atoms were hydrogen.

Later in the life of the Universe, large hydrogen clouds dotted empty space. These hydrogen clouds grew so massive that gravity collapsed them in on themselves, starting a constant nuclear reaction, changing hydrogen into helium. These burning clouds of hydrogen are known as stars.

Eventually, a star has to die. After a while, a star burns all of its hydrogen into helium. So it starts changing helium into different “elements”, or different kinds of atoms. Because of this, the star gets bigger. Soon, the star can’t support such a great nuclear reaction, and collapses on itself. In some cases, this forms a gigantic explosion called a supernova. Supernovae released all different elements across the Universe.

At one point in time, there came to be an average sized, plain looking star known as the Sun. Celestial bodies called planets started to circle the sun. Planets were made from all of the new elements that were created in supernovae. One of these planets is known as Earth.

Earth is unique because on it developed something called life. The complexity of life grew and grew and grew. Life evolved from microorganisms in the Earth’s water oceans to complex animals on land. All the organisms relied on each other, for food, or mutualism. But the most special life-form on Earth is the human.

Humans are the result of millions of years of evolution. They are extremely complex; the perfect life form. They are able to develop technologies to help improve their lives. They were so adaptable, they spread throughout their planet and populated it. Some humans created governments to control their people. The land the government owns is a nation. Nations developed after years of different governments trying to gain new land.

One of these nations is known as the United Stats of America. It came to be after a war with it’s parent county, the United Kingdom. The United States promised to be a free, liberal country. Because of this, many people moved to this nation from other countries.

Two particular people that migrated to the USA are from Italy. They moved to America, and had a son. That son had his own son with an Irish woman. And that son came to start a weblog called Operation Global, the first post of which is this one.

Now. There is a point to all of this.

Many people struggle to comprehend the Universe, while they barely know anything about their planet. There is so much to learn about what’s right around you. So much, that nobody will ever know everything about the Earth. The moral of the story? You are living on a speck.

You might be wondering why I started this weblog. If you didn’t already know, I created a blog first at www.noignorance.wordpress.com, the Anti-Ignorance Blog. I got bored with that, and created this. However, when I finish this project, I will start up Anti-Ignorance again.

What will I be doing? I’m covering the Earth, slowly but surely, with the result of a large, compiled source of everything about the Earth. Cultures, ethnic groups, countries, geography, you name it. In fact, that’s excactly what I want you to do.

Until we meet again, my friend.
